About Us

Our Mission: Stomping Ground Adult Day Services is where adults with intellectual disabilities find purpose, meaningful life experiences and work.

At Stomping Ground Adult Day Services, we work to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live more meaningful, self-determined lives within their communities. One of the ways we help people achieve this goal is through our unique day program, serving participants from Wilson County and southern Bexar County in Texas. Just 30 minutes from San Antonio, in rural Wilson County, Stomping Ground Adult Day Services offers your loved one an opportunity to leave the hustle, bustle and noise of the city behind, and spend the day in a tranquil atmosphere. Our Founder and Executive Director, Susan Schwartz, the parent of an intellectually challenged adult and herself a health care professional, is passionate about creating life skills and opportunity for Stomping Ground Adult Day Services' participants.

Our program connects people to the community, provides opportunities to make friends, teaches a myriad of skills, develops work readiness, and ultimately increases independence. Stomping Ground Adult Day Services provides a destination during the day for those with intellectual disabilities who might otherwise be isolated at home. We serve individuals from 18 to 30 years of age.

Our Executive Director, Susan Schwartz, the parent of an intellectually challenged adult, a U.S. Army veteran, and a licensed health care professional, is passionate about creating life skills and opportunity for Stomping Ground Adult Day Services' participants in a home-like, fun atmosphere. Due to the lack of services available in rural Wilson County, Texas, for her own daughter, Susan founded Stomping Ground Adult Day Services in 2019.

Stomping Ground Adult Day Services charges a small daily fee for the individual's participation in our Day Services program. We rely upon the generosity of our Board of Directors, our donors and sponsors as well online sales of products made by our participants to help defray program costs. We are a 501(c)3, non-profit with the Internal Revenue Service.
